WACSSO Conference to provide future focused agenda to inspire WA P&Cs

WACSSO proudly represents the voices of public school parents across WA. We believe all children in Western Australia should have access to a world-class education.

WACSSO Conference, to run this coming weekend from August 24-25 at Crown Perth, will see over to 400 delegates from P&Cs across WA come together to learn how they can continue to positively impact their communities. This sellout event is one of the biggest WACSSO Conference weekends of recent years, and will see delegates engage in workshops and hear from speakers who are responding to the theme ‘Innovate, Collaborate, Advocate.’

“The 2024 Conference theme ‘Innovate, Collaborate, Advocate,’ encapsulates the core of our efforts to shape the future of public education in WA,” says WACSSO President Pania Turner. “For WACSSO, innovation means exploring new ways to support and engage our P&Cs, ensuring they have the tools and resources to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Collaboration involves building strong partnerships with government bodies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to amplify our collective impact. Advocacy remains at the heart of our work, as we champion policies and initiatives that benefit students, families, and communities. To be future-focused, we are prioritizing initiatives that promote digital literacy, mental health support, inclusive education practices, and sustainable funding models. P&Cs can lead conversations on these critical areas to ensure our schools are equipped to meet future challenges and opportunities,”

This year’s Conference will see a host of speakers address WACSSO delegates, including the Minister for Education, the Hon Dr Tony Buti MLA, Director General Lisa Rodgers PSM, and Commissioner for Children and Young People and Jacqueline McGowan-Jones. Keynote speakers include SJ Price and Natasha Blycha, leaders and AI experts from the award-winning national tech law firm, Stirling & Rose. Closing WACSSO Conference are special guests Judy and Tim Sharp who will share their incredible story of adversity, persistence, resilience, triumph, success and inspiration.

‘A Double Shot of Happiness’ promises to be a powerful keynote of how a boy diagnosed with severe autism went on to become of Australia’s best-known international artists and the creator of Laser Beak Man.
