Are you keen to take your P&C volunteering to the next level?
WACSSO State Councillor Elections are now open for the following electorates: Canning East, Canning West, Canning North, Fremantle, Joondalup East, Peel South, Warren-Blackwood, Wheatbelt North, Wheatbelt South, North West and Swan East.
State Councillors are the grassroots connection between P&Cs and WACSSO. Councillors are often contacted by affiliates for advice and assistance and can be invited to attend P&C meetings in their electorate. State Council meets five times per year usually over a weekend. When Council is not in session an Executive Committee conducts Council business. State Council’s advocacy priorities are informed by WACSSO Annual Conference, the forum for affiliates to establish priorities and policy for the coming year.
The benefits of being a WACSSO State Councillor include:
- the opportunity to positively contribute to the education of students in government schools throughout WA.
- learning invaluable lifelong personal and career skills.
- meeting like-minded people and having the opportunity to network within the education community.
- being part of a well-respected, high-profile organisation.
- access to a professional and confidential Employee Assistance Program
- a comprehensive induction program that includes formal support from an experienced State Councillor (WACSSO Buddy program)
- Most importantly, it is heaps of fun!
Nomination forms have been posted and emailed to P&Cs, and the Election pack is available on the WACSSO website. Nominations must be received by 12noon, Friday 5 April.
