About P&C Day WA

P&C Day WA was started by WACSSO in 2019 as a day for school communities to give thanks to their P&C for all their hard work and contributions. The day was celebrated by schools, parliament members, and other education stakeholders throughout Western Australia, with a range of different events being held to show appreciation for P&C members.

P&C Day continues to grow, with last year’s celebrations having the largest participation yet. We saw strong participation from school communities throughout the State. P&C Day WA continues to have strong support from the Department of Education, as they have been excellent in engaging school staff to get involved in celebrating their P&Cs.

Message from our partner FreshSNAP

FreshSNAP is your Western Australian Fresh School Nutrition Advisory Program. They are committed to providing an integrated, comprehensive state-wide advisory and implementation service to deliver nutrition education and support schools in creating healthy food and drink environments.

FreshSNAP offers a comprehensive all-on-one-plate advisory service. The whole school community — leadership, teachers, canteen and food service staff, students, families, and professionals supporting schools — are able to access tools and resources to create sustainable, healthy school food and drink environments.

With phone, email and face-to-face support, as well as FoodChecker, an Australian-first, free assessment tool that allows organisations to self-assess menus, recipes and products according to the WA School Food and Drink Criteria, FreshSNAP is here to help lighten the load on canteen, school and P&C staff and volunteers.

FreshSNAP is proudly funded by the Department of Health Western Australia.

FreshSNAP has chosen to support P&C Day WA to acknowledge and champion the amazing work done by P&Cs across WA. P&Cs are vital to creating school environments that encourage students and families to grow, learn, thrive, and reach their full potential. This commitment to supporting students and families is at the core of what FreshSNAP does, and it is a natural alignment to be able to support WACSSO and P&C Day WA.

P&C Day WA 2024 is supported by the WA Department of Education and FreshSNAP.

How to get involved?

  • Spread the word! WACSSO has posters, social media resources, craft projects, event decorations and more to help school communities celebrate their P&C.
  • Plan a P&C Day event for your school community. In previous years we’ve seen morning teas, P&C Day acknowledgements at school assemblies, fundraising and community events and more.
  • Share your appreciation for the school P&C on social media, don’t forget to use the hashtag #PANDCDAYWA.

WACSSO will be encouraging schools to get onboard with the celebration to show their appreciation for P&Cs all over the State.

Celebrate your people!

P&C Day WA is the PERFECT opportunity to give Certificates of Merit or Long Service to your volunteers. Not sure of the process? Click here and fill in the form and we’ll be in touch! Please note that we will request a copy of the minutes from the meeting at which the certificate recipient was agreed to, so it’s a good idea to build that step into your timeline.

P&C DAY LOGO

The P&C Day WA logo represents the day-to-day energy and joy we see P&Cs bring to school communities. It also portrays a strong feeling of connection and community, reminiscent of parents and carers linking arms, recognising P&Cs as a collective. The logo also pays homage to the previous ‘let your light shine’ sun theme of P&C Day WA, acknowledging the ‘shining light’ P&Cs provide to school communities.
